Victory Over Sin

Before reading this article we encourage you to read the previously listed article on this web site entitled: What is Sin?

One of the great mysteries of the journey of repentance and the transformation from the natural body to the spiritual body is the mystery of the victory over sin and the way to overcome it.

As we have already explained earlier in the article: Who is God and who is Satan?, the natural body is controlled by Satan and the spiritual body is controlled by God. So how are the true believers able to have victory then over the spirit that by nature they have been born with (the flesh) and become born of God?

Please read the following readings as a testimony that the true believers in Christ are dead to sin.

Romans 6:2-11; 7:4,5; 8:10; 1 Cor. 15:34; Gal. 5:24; Eph. 4:24; Col 2:10-13; 2 Tim. 2:11; Hebrews 10:39; 1 Peter 4:1; 2 Peter 1:4

In the next step of understanding this mystery, we encourage you to read the following readings as it describes the word 'overcome'. Let there be no doubt: you must overcome sin, the powers of evil and your natural spirit, in order to claim victory and after that, God is still the judge of the house of Israel and the body of Christ (the true church).

Nobody has the right to judge himself/herself and claim to be righteous in the eyes of God or to be 'Born Again'. This is called self-righteousness. Judgment begins with the believers and the house of God (1 Peter 4:17).

Romans 7:25; 12:21; 1 Cor. 15:57; 1 John 2:13; 2:14; 4:4; 5:4,5; Revelation 2:7,11,17,26; 3:5,12,21; 21:7

So what is the secret? The answer is; the very word of God. The Word is God and unless it abideth in you, there will be no victory over sin and your natural spirit (the devil) and as a result you will continue to struggle and be pulled in two directions.

1 John 2:14. I have written unto you young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. Also, please read Jeremiah 31:33 and John 8:31.

The victory over sin goes even one step further as it is impossible for anyone to sin that is born of God.

1 John 3:9. Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Please remember now that it no longer talks about the sinful seed of men but the seed of God. And what is that seed? The very Word of God.

1 Peter 1:23. Being born again, not of corruptible seed (your natural fathers), but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.

We encourage all those that are seeking the truth in Christ to study the scriptures, always acknowledging that you are a sinner and subject to the spirit of this world (Satan) and under the power of the devil. Start out by reading each day a chapter out of the Old Testament and the New Testament.

Matthew 5:6. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

Unfortunately, the spirit of this world has people already convinced through the religions of this world that they are right with God and that they know Him, as the devil also quotes scripture to his purpose. Spiritually they are not hungry and thirsty, since they already claim to be filled with his spirit (John 9:39-41).

That is considered self-righteousness and is not after the righteousness of God. But on the other hand, if you hunger and thirst in truth, God will manifest and reveal Himself to you and open your eyes to the truth of the Word of God.

Revelation 2:7. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
