The book 'Merchants in the Temple' was written by Gianluigi Nuzzi, an Italian journalist who lives in Milan. It was recently published in 2015. The writer had unprecedented access to Pope Francis and the book takes an investigative look at the recent financial scandals at the highest levels of the Vatican - the Curia. The Roman Curia is the administrative apparatus of the Vatican and the central body through which the Roman Pontiff conducts the affairs of the universal Catholic Church.
The book is based on confidential information, including top secret documents from inside the Vatican and actual transcripts of Pope Francis's admonishments to the papal court about the lack of financial oversight and responsibility.
The writer was aided by thousands of documents which had come from the butler of the previous pope Joseph Ratzinger (Benedict XVI), who resigned in 2013. The butler had been inspired to let the world know what was happening in the Vatican.
The book details the incredible waste of money by the men who govern the church and who are the real enemies of the cross of Christ, with the Pope as its head (Phil. 3:18). At their worst, these man engaged in wrongdoing that includes practices closely tied to religious life, such as the procedures for beatification and canonization, a marketplace in which millions of dollars changed hands.
The book also investigated the money flow that is sent to Rome from every diocese in the world, and is supposed to be used to bring relief to the poor, in fulfillment of the Church's pastoral mission. And where you may ask, do these donations go? The book reconstructs the facts and erases all doubts as to where the money trail ends.
When I heard about the book, I remembered that somewhere in our vast collection of entries on the Current Events page of our website and the numerous articles we had written, that after all the revelations about sexual abuse in the church, the biggest scandal had yet to be revealed and that it would involve the history of the Vatican Banking System and its illegal money laundering that for centuries had been hidden.
After a long search, I was eventually directed to an entry on the Current Events page from March, 2013, where we had mentioned this latest revelation.
The following is our response and comments to Gianluigi Nuzzi about his book. We copied most of the major News Networks in the USA and Canada along with the Religious Authorities in Nova Scotia, Canada, where we reside. Also copied were members of the Executive Staff of The Associated Press and The Canadian Press.

The fact that you wrote a book that exposed the Corruption involving the Vatican Banking System is no coincidence, as the following is an excerpt of the entry 'Francis, open up the church' listed on the Current Events page of our website.
“Please note that the biggest scandal in the church is yet to be revealed and will involve the history of the Vatican Banking System and its handling of illegal money laundering that for centuries has been hidden, but as confirmed in the Word of God: there is nothing covered, that shall not been revealed; and hid, that shall not be known (Matthew 10:26).
The Vatican and the Catholic Church is a haven for sex perverts and all kinds of other abominations. The phenomenon of tens of thousands of church closures will continue and at even a faster rate in the future. The revelations of the misappropriation of funds and the illegal handling and laundering of money will eventually lead to the financial ruin of the church.”
It is interesting to note that the entry 'Francis, open up the church' was first published on our website in March, 2013, at a time when none of the information revealed in your book was publicly available. We invite you to read the complete entry and then ask yourself the question: How did we know? Did God reveal it to us, as He has with other content on this website (Gal. 1:11,12)?
